Created on March 22, 2012, this blog is dedicated to the rich and diverse Philippine cultures and it's people. You will find here pictures of the indigenous, music, dances, baybayin art, places in the Philippines, tattoo's, animistic beliefs, myths and legends, deities, food, martial arts, and everything that makes us Filipino, as well as our fellow Pin@y's from all over the world.
“I was thrown in the ocean when I was a child. Bakunawa took me in and became my kindred spirit. Today we will rise and we will defend what was ours. I am Alona.”
This was what I made for the MAD On-the-spot Digital Art contest in our Uni. I didn’t have enough time so I just went in and do random stuff with it. I got to try using a Wacom tablet and it was so awesome. I drew like a wind (compared to drawing with a mouse…pfft). I named her Alona referring to the waves of the ocean (alon in tagalog). Bakunawa is a Filipino mythology creature. Let’s try again in the future!
Congratulations to the winners. \m/ Happy Independence Day Philippines!
Aside from the Masonic influence on the Katipunan, the design of the Philippine flag has roots in the flag family to which it belongs—that of the last group of colonies that sought independence from the Spanish Empire at the close of the 19th century, a group to which the Philippines belongs.
PCDSPO traces the origins of the Philippine flag’s design elements, which have been in use since General Emilio Aguinaldo first conceived them—the stars and stripes; the red, white, and blue; the masonic triangle; and the sun—and have endured since.
NYC Philippines Independence Day Parade 2013 Part 2
One of the biggest Filipin@ cultural events I attend is the NYC Philippines Independence Day Parade along Madison Ave. Every year I attend there seems to be more and more people attending with not just from the tri-state area but those from other parts of the country as well.
Live cultural dances, music, costumes, and appearances from well known Filipin@ celebrities come to the parade and this year was no exception.
Now let me share with you my lovely followers photo’s in several posts from the parade of groups, dances, and people who all came today to celebrate our heritage, independence, and pride as Filipin@’s.

Expect lots of cultural stuff and Filipino celebrities !
Most of the pictures will be uploaded on the Pinoy-Culture Facebook page however as it would take forever and take up so many posts to post all the pictures on the blog. So if you want to see all the pictures you can find them on the page.
If you see yourself or your group in any of the pictures feel free to tag yourselves!
